During the second phase of the training program, boot campers will be placed in intermediate internships in digital media outlets, for a total of 22 days over the course of six weeks, where they will be further equipped with the contacts and skills necessary to begin to practice journalism in electronic publications. |

Mentoring & Evaluation |
At the end of each training session the trainer will be required to evaluate the development of the participant, in terms of work on particular assignments and overall performance. Their assessments will note strengths and weaknesses, using a standard form that will include both knowledge-general evaluation categories (ability to write, research skills and teamwork) as well as knowledge-specific evaluation categories (understanding and execution of particular training topic). |
In turn, all trainees will be required to evaluate each of their training experiences, including the performance of the trainer, value of the material covered and the quality of the facilities and equipment. These evaluations will be critical to monitoring the impact of the training program and for flagging any problems as they may arise. |

Orientation & Graduation |
Upon acceptance into the Boot Camp, participants will be invited to an introductory session where they will meet their fellow boot campers, coordinators, trainers, AWAN staff, media experts, industry partners and others who are affiliated to the program. |
During the session, the participants will be given an overview of the aim, scope and purpose of the program. The coordinators will explain the system of distribution of stipends, which are intended to cover reasonable cost of transportation and communication that the participants would incur on training and internship days. Also during the session, the new recruits will be given a detailed schedule and outline of their training courses and asked to sign a general agreement that they are aware of and ready to undertake their commitments and obligations to the program. |
Each participant will receive a digital camera to use during the course of the training program. The camera will help the trainees produce work and store material for future reference. As an incentive to complete the entire program, all participants will be 'awarded' their cameras, as well as certificates, at a graduation ceremony that will be held during the final month of the program. |
